   Near Widegate Street, a passage to Pettycoat lane (Hatton, 1708).
   "Cat and Wheel Alley," in W. Stow, 1722.
   Sometimes spelt Katherine Wheel Alley.
   Named from the Catherine Wheel Inn (q.v.).
